The Lola Mk I was Eric Broadley’s answer to the successful Lotus 11. Eric applied Colin Chapman’s theory of adding lightness to his car. He made the frontal area smaller and produced a car that weighed about 100 pounds less than the
Lotus 11. The car was an instant success and virtually made the Lotus 11 obsolete over night.
As a side note the Mark I was only the second car designed and built by Eric Broadley and Lola cars.
He has started his turn and the run down the corkscrew turn at Laguna Seca.
