a nice stack of logs - can't understand why they can't be stuck straight into a stove instead of wasting half their energy content grinding them up

Most logs stack are fairly uniform so this creates an interesting visual. Well seen! V Better to become pellets for winter heat than a forest fire and smoke in the middle of a hot summer.
