This paddle started from the Wekiva Falls RV Resort in Sorrento, Florida and went south on the Wekiva River. The whole idea behind this paddle was to explore an area that neither of us had been before. The farthest we had been was to Little Wekiva River which is about 2.7 miles (4.4 km) from the park. The next point of interest beyond there is Wekiva Island, 6.1 miles (9.8 km) from the park. We ended up going 4 miles (6.4 km) one way. It was kind of boring and the wind was making it's presence known.
I put up a few GPS waypoint markers on the track where the above mentioned places are on the river.
We saw no gators, or birds on the way out. You couldn't even hear them! That is just bizarre. On the way back we saw a few birds and turtles. No gators or snakes. As a result I took very few pictures.
It was still great to get out on the water.
Enjoy the pics.
