Turner Sports Cars was a small British Sportsd Car firm Based in England The firm was started in 1951 by founder Jack Turner. His cars were avasilable in either kit form or as complete cars. He used a variety of British engines. The last Turner car was produced in 1966 after Jack Turner suffered a heart attack.
Turner sports cars were quite succcessful in sports car racing.
I attended the CSRG Charity Challenge at Sonoma Racewayin Oct. 2018. I was covering the races for Victory Lane Magazine. Race 4 was very exciting as it truly was a David and Goliath race. Goliath being the 1964 Chevrolet Corvette driven by Jeff. Abramson and playing the part of David was Kevin Shirley in a 1962 Turner Mk II. The massive tourque and horsepower of the Corvette took the lead from the green flag. But wait the '62 Turner Mk II of Kevin Shirley was just hounding the massive Corvette. The Corvette managed to keep the Turner from passing...until he either rand out of brakes or made a mistake. Kevin in the Turner nipped pased and was never headed again. Just for you information the field included a Jaguar E-Type a total of 7 Corvettes, a 1964 F.I.A Mercury Comet,a Porsche 911 and several Ford Mustangs and Shelby GT 350's. This was a fast group of cars and drivers. The little 1500 cc Turner just whooped them all.
The Turner was not quite the thourobred fully race ready car that same out of Lotus and other makers it was designed using a lot of off the shelf parts from the British industry as a road going sports car.
