March 7, 2019--one foot higher than the day it was opened

River on the left, Spillway land on the right. It has reached flood stage in New Orleans. The Corps is being mighty sure of themselves. Torrential rain for the past six months has levees saturated. Time to open the Morganza Spillway upriver to alleviate some of the pressure on the levees.

Looks like a lot of water there Coleen. I hope it can be managed successfully.

Now if only it could be channeled to my place. That's a lot of water.

High water seems to be everywhere. Lake Ontario up here is a foot higher than average right now and we might have the same flooding we had two years ago.

Good observation Coleen. We've just had the wettest winter on record AND there has also been record snowfall. And the big snowmelt is yet to come.

Let's hope the corp does more to protect New Orleans than they did to protect the city before Hurricane Katrina.

Boy o boy, this could be worse than Katrina! There are tons of snow up here waiting for Spring to melt!
