Hello. I was running down past the airport in Chiang Mai when a large bird stopped me in my tracks. It was about 20 meters to my side and 15 meters high. It was over the low grass/shrub land on the outskirts of the runways. The bird seemed to trying to rise again and several small birds (sparrow like) were circling about 3 feet above its head - presumably keeping it insight. The bird circled straight over my head, spiraling upwards (not flapping though). The sun was behind it so it was difficult to see exactly the colour but it was dark and did have two white circles under its wing. It's shape was similar to the smaller picture here - as I noticed a slight forking of the tail. We do have Kites and that was my first thought - but I don't think it was. This is the first picture I've found that resembles what I saw. Can anyone help - have these been seen in CM? If not, any ideas.
