The cellar originally was the kitchen (scullery & smokehouse root cellar). In the colonial era it was common for the kitchen to be separate from the main building and often half underground. The cottage retains its original fittings and colour scheme, white washed parlour and the two main rooms a soft pastel blue, originally a slurry of washing blue and white wash.
