Went out to check on the paper ranch
and these are the new neighbors.
I hope they stick around!
A “Paper Ranch” is when back in the 50’s and 60’s all
over the west ranchers would subdivide their land
cutting them into 5 or 10 acre parcels.
That was what the signs along route 66 were selling that said something like…
$20 down and $20 a month for ten years and you could live here!
The Paper Ranches are just a line on a map in the middle of nowhere.
No roads, water, or power, just sage brush.
One thing they did get right…
Sometimes the view is stunning.
Anyway as the decades passed some of these places turned
into Lake Havasu City, Bullhead City and yes even
Golden Valley is showing signs of growth.
