Two-toed Sloth

Manuel Antonio National Park, Puntarenas Province, Costa Rica

You find sloths every so often but rarely get a good unobstructed crack at one. I was going up a path looking for things to take pictures of when one of the men who worked there told me about this. Although he only spoke Spanish, the word for sloth in Spanish is sloth with a hard o instead of soft o. Luckily, their national park people were not being furloughed. This was a case where my lens was too big to fit him or her all in, but I am glad I took it, because by the time I switched to my next smaller lens - he or she was no longer looking down.

seems a relaxed demeanour, yet the waves of hair and focused gaze remind of its essential pulse...super shot Dan....V

What a fantastic find and shot. You caught this one at just the right moment. I saw one crossing the road once, in Panama in pre-digital days, but the photo was not great. V
