Of all the Smooth Coat Chihuahuas that my family has ever owned during my lifetime, Chile is my first one without a thick double coat. Strong on English bloodlines (where cross coat breeding has been prohibited since the 1970's), she has a slick, single coat like a Doberman; not a double coat like a German Shepherd. However, her dislike of snow goes far beyond her lack of undercoat. Even with the thinner coat, Chile doesn't seem to mind the cold any more than the other Chis.
Still, she absolutely HATES stepping on the cold, white stuff on the ground.
