Ginny has two favorite watches, both of them inexpensive. She likes them a lot. They are both battery powered, and the batteries went flat. Normally, we can go to WalMart and borrow some tools to take them apart and press them back together. Well, WalMart won't lend you the tools anymore. It was up to me to do the job on the kitchen table. Getting the backs off was a little chore because they were "sweated" in. I had to scrape the goo off before I could pry them off. There are tiny little batteries and I tend to be fat fingered with fiddly little bits. The batteries need a little coaxing to come out cleanly. It was easy to put in the replacements. Putting the backs back on requires a little pressure in the right spots. WalMart had a nice seating tool, but that was unavailable. A little judicious pressure carefully applied around the edges got them reseated. Now they both work just fine. I am a local hero until I screw something up which I manage to do about every day.

That was plan B.

I use my drill press and a couple of my 6 point sockets to reset the backs. A bit of masking tape prevents scratches.
