This was taken at Parc Omega, not in the wild. The humans are confined to cars at this park, and the animals more or less, roam free, though the ones like these wolves have a fence between them and the road. They have acres of natural habitat in which to roam, but it is certainly not like their native habitat in the north.
These guys look very amiable, like big husky/shepherds, but of course, they are not domestic dogs. While huskies, malamutes especially, look most similar to their wild 'cousins', german shepherds bear a strong similarity, which is one reason I am so keen on that breed. After all, at one time, german shepherds were called the Alsatian Wolf Dog.
