Our commcenter detachment would trek about a mile to the Vietnamese III Corps HQ mess hall every day for noon lunch and drive past this scene of barracks & monument.
III Corps often had brass around & I remember a lot of saluting just to get in the place.
The dining room atmosphere and environment had a bit of elegance, was way cleaner & better, the food was better but not by much than our own mess hall (which I went to once).
When I arrived in country it did not take long before my body was rejecting any meat, & I had to adjust to vegetables and fruit which remained my diet throughout the tour. - 1970
