As a frame of reference, I believe this is a good example of f5.6 Depth of Field in a typical portrait.
It was taken at an aperture of f5.6 and focal length of 105mm using the venerable and ancient Minolta 70-210 f4.0 ‘Beercan’ lens with a 24MP Sony a850.
Unfortunately an appropriately cropped section doesn’t fit on a typical 1080P screen at 100%. This was down-sampled from 2092x1046px to 1800x900px (or 86%).
Note the focus transition from the tip of the nose to the glasses/eye to the ear/hair.
Admittedly this combination of 30 year old zoom lens and camera with an AA filter is not as sharp as my newer Sony FE lenses and a7RII, but it's certainly appropriate to demonstrate depth of field in this scenario.
