Motorman and The Runner Murals

Derry, Northern Ireland

Operation Motorman happened on July 30, 1972 when British troups invaded the Bogside "no-go" areas. They tore down barricades with bulldozers. The artist chose the image of a soldier battering down a door to express the sheer ferocity of the onslaught.
The Runner depicts a young boy running from a gas cloud, as tear gas was typically used during "The Troubles."
