The Torino was produced by Ford Motor Company for the North American
market between 1968 and 1976. Most Torinos were conventional cars,
and generally the most popular models were the 4-door sedans and the
2-door hardtops. However, Ford produced some high-performance versions
of the Torino by fitting them with large powerful engines, like the
428 cu in (7.0 L), and 429 cu in (7.0L) "Cobra Jet" engines, making
them competitive in the era of the muscle car.
This Torino Cobra Jet was the 1,188th built, completed on September 22,
1969 in Lorain Ohio before being shipped up to Detroit to be sold. The
currant owner purchased the car in 1992 in Sunfield, Michigan - it had
front end damage and had not been on the road since 1974. Since owning
the car, a shaker hood scoop and rear sport slats have been added, common
options for 1970 sports roof Torinos.
