This is the unmarked and purposely non-disclosed grave of an early Canadian fur trapper. It has been restored by a retired park ranger. It is a tragic story of perhaps murder most foul. The story goes that the trapper got into an argument with another person who shot him. It took three days for the trapper to die. When he died the RCMP sent his body to Ottawa, 3,000 kilometers away, for an autopsy. The conclusion was that his death was unrelated to the bullet wound. The body was returned, but without the head. He was buried near his cabin, which is now gone.
The retired ranger got wind of this story and was able to find the grave site, which he restored. Out of respect for the trapper and to prevent any tampering the decision has been made not to tell people where it is. How I found it is another story, but I am unable to tell that story, because others may then be able to find the trapper also.
Exactly how much of this is true I am unable to say. But it is an interesting story that makes me think.
