Common redpolls

Fletcher Wildlife Garden

Feeding on the seeds of new england asters. By cutting down plants such as asters and goldenrods in autumn, to tidy the garden, we are depriving many birds of an important natural food source.

Loveliness. Feel like I’m peeping into a private meeting. Bravo for saving the seed plants. V

Very nice photo and a good reminder to gardeners. The resident gold finches stripped my ornamental grass of all their seeds early so no tassels this year.

Love this caputre! V
So true! For you that don’t - It helps to observe what the birds and other creatures do to utilize your gardens and yard for food, nesting or cover. Then use that as your guide. There is a lot that can be done with a little forethought.

A very fine nature capture.. Very well done...

you make a good point...rather a healthy bird population than a tidy garden...surely Spring is time enough to cut back excess growth..
