The old grocery stores in the pioneer’s towns sold the basic food necessities and many other commonly needed items.
The long list included some produce, spices, tobacco, nuts, beans flour, sugar, salt, coffee, tea, canned pickles,
crackers, potatoes, mincemeat, dry meat, and general merchandise such as hardware, clothes, fabric,
sewing notions, crockery and dishes, perfumes, household items, soaps, medicines, and of course, candies for the children.
