20050928 0020 SERIES - Robin2 NX2 c1r1r1.jpg

Calgary

A four image mini-series taken from a slide presentation I am preparing for a Senior's group. This is one of about six Robins eating Mountain Ash berries from one of five trees located near the Bow River. All the Robins were eating berries from this one tree, none from any of the other four trees. These images were taken only a few weeks after I got my first DSLR, the Nikon D70 and the original, non VR 80-400 lens.

Top Image: After having eaten several berries already, the Robin seems to be concentrating on the top berry.

It seems that it changed its mind and took one of the lower berries.

Here it seems to be giving me a look-over.

It then seems to decide that this novice photographer is no big threat and it continues to consume the berries.

Note: It ate all the berries in this bunch, then went to feed on another bunch.

Nikon D70 ,Nikkor 80-400mm
1/1000s f/5.6 at 400.0mm iso200 full exif

other sizes: small medium large original auto

I like the "chatter". It seems that Robins, at least the ones that frequent my yard, are more patient and less scared and skittish than a lot of the other birds in my yard, allowing me to get far more pictures of them.. Nice series Hank.

Proving once again it's not the equipment, it's the photographer. A super series.
