This yellow kingbird was photographed by a homeowner in the city of Bayfield (Bayfield County) on Monday, October 1. It was present in the evening picking flies off her home, at times even sallying right up to her windows! Unfortunately she had only an iPhone for pics and the bird was not present as of this morning. Although the photos don't yield much to the ID, the homeowner, who is a casual birder, was adamant the tail was brown and without a white tip or outer edges, leading her to a likely ID as Tropical or Couch's Kingbird. If so, Bayfield County will have hosted 3 of Wisconsin's 4 Tropical/Couch's in 3 consecutive years and each within a 17-mile span on the Bayfield peninsula.
