BC Wildfires

Keremeos

One of the many devastating wifdfires ravaging BC communities and countryside this year. Interesting info ~ I was having a bite to eat at a cafe in Keremeos (about 5 miles from there) and could see lots of smoke from the outdoor table. Asked some locals about it. They said this fire had been raging off and on for a few weeks and thought it had been doused. No ~ this was not the case! Once I left town, on the outskirts, this scene was on the other side of the highway. It was across the valley and river from many fruit orchards and farms. Subsequent news reporting I heard now said the government simply did not have the resources to cover all the fires and were only able to control some, while dealing with the major ones. I can feel California’s pain!

This is a powerful image, Carol. So well done with the helicopters coming in.
This really makes me appreciate those who are in there risking their lives to fight these fires. Stay safe!

Your image is beautiful although it documents such a sad state of our climate problems! Very dramatic with the different translucent tones of smoke.

si destructeur et si impressionnant en même temps ! la nature semble prendre sa revanche sur l'homme et les dégâts qu'ils lui occasionnent ! v

Powerful documentary image Carol, and sadly a sight I've seen too often. "V"
The Cedar Fire in 2003 came close enough to our house to shower it with embers. The ash cover looked like snow. It destroyed over 2,800 buildings and burned over 1,100 km2.

positively incendiary....a devastating year again for fires in the province, and you caught this one so adroitly, smoke, choppers and all...
