The National Monument

Edinburgh, Scotland

The National Monument of Scotland, on Calton Hill in Edinburgh, is Scotland's national memorial to the Scottish soldiers and sailors who died fighting in the Napoleonic Wars.
It was originally supposed to be a copy of the Parthenon in Athens, but they ran out of money and the building was never completed. There are wonderful views from this hill on a clear day, which this day was not!

Impressive monument, although style doesn't look too Scottish! Well captured in dreary weather. V.
