#16: Innocence

Morris Island Conservation Area

To me, animals both domestic and wild, have a certain innocence to them. They don't really understand how vulnerable they are in this world of humans, and how easily they can be hurt, their homes destroyed, their young taken or hurt, etc. etc. This small porcupine was making its slow way up a tree to safety and at this point was at eye level with me. It stopped and peered at me, and I noticed it had a leaky eye, no doubt from an injury or an infection, poor thing.

Your words are beautiful and I could not agree more! That is the very lovely appeal of all animals but their vulnerability also, though worrying. I could go on and on about this ... but you picture suits the subject and is quite moving.

I noticed the eye right away. Hopefully it's a minor injury. Mother Nature can be quite cruel. :( V

Neat find. I hope it heals. I am so in tune with your sentiment. Humankind is too often 'Humanunkind'.
