This farm is in the middle of an area known locally as "the Prairie". It is included in the Ebey's Landing National Historical Reserve and is where european settlement began on Whidbey Island. The Prairie is the only location on the Island were commercial agriculture prevails. This field was lawn grass grown for seeds and the bales of straw are a by-product.
