Gum trees are rarely trimmed here as it tends to weaken their structure. No tree trimmer would dare work without a helmut either as it is a workplace law...funny how things are done differently in each country.

Was shocked to see the top picture as our landscaper just had a 30 foot fall from a tree (not here), when a branch collapsed and was on life support and not expected to live, but is now breathing on his own, though in a coma. Tree work is very, very, very dangerous, and the reason we pay so much to have it done is that the workers' insurance is extremely high. He is a most amazing man - 1st generation I believe form Central America and has built a huge business in the area, employing many people. We were very shocked and saddened to hear of his mishap. I notice that the man in this picture is not wearing a helmet. Our José was, but it was dislodged in the fall.
