Great photograph!
This carving is called a _misericord_. Definition: "A ledge projecting from the underside of the hinged seat of a choir stall in a church, on which the occupant can support himself while standing." It made long periods of standing during church services much easier on the choir members.
Thought I'd mention this in case you'd like to include the word "misericord" in the photo description. That way, people looking for photos of this kind of carving can locate your image more easily.
