Hanging Bananas

Galveston Island, Texas

The Barque Picton Castle is a three-masted tall, registered in the Cook Islands, in the South Pacific. The ship is based in Lunenburg, Nova Scotia, Canada.
She is best known for adventurous sail training voyages around the world.
The Picton Castle is 179 feet long, displaces 300 tons, and carries 12,500 square feet of sail. When her coed crew goes aloft to furl sail,
they are working ten stories above the deck and they must come to master 175 different lines — and be able to handle them deftly on the blackest of nights.
She sailed for the Royal Navy in WWII. For more info - http://www.picton-castle.com/ship-and-crew/the-picton-castle.html

She is a big ship, thanks for the background, wouldn't like to be climbing up there at night...V

Cool shot of this old boat. Love the appearance of wear and tear and especially the bananas.

The vessel has quite an interesting history. Looks like I missed her in New York City by about 12 years and at Swansea for something like 27 !

Nice close up showing the detail and metal plates and rivets of the hull. The bananas are a nice bonus. "V"
