METAL

Edgewater Lake, Sugar Land Texas

Invasion of the Black Crowned Night Herons
My town has many lakes and many, many large Live Oak trees (we are known for our trees). This makes a perfect stopping spot for migrating birds,
and for nesting waterfowl especially. In late May, we get inundated with Night Herons.
The City has metal signs that they put out every April - June, because there are young birds EVERYWHERE.
In one block, yesterday, I came across about 30 juvenile Night Herons on the street or in the trees.
Unfortunately, some of these babies fall on the pavement and end up hurt.

Certainly a new sign for me but so good that people care.

It’s always great to look out for wildlife.

I saw the video Ray talks about...so good. Last week we found a baby Possum under our patio. Mum must have dropped it during a night prowl of our garden. It was barely two inches long. Husband took it to our local Vet. Update yesterday that it had gone to a Wildlife Carer....hopefully it will survive too.

Incredible! We don't have that problem here, and so don't put up any signs.
Was watching on TV this week baby mandarin ducks that are born in treeholes. So when they fledge, they don't fly, they just drop out of the nest a few feet but don't get hurt!
