Is that Phil Rizzuto I hear?

It was in fact a hard bouncing infield grounder to the Rockie's short stop, throw out at first. Traveller

Ha! The guest traps me....I am not quite sure what compels me to such absolute honesty here, in the Challenges...i would like to say the ball is fast.ly on its way to the center field fence....but it is not...hummm...was this really a strike out, the ball in the catcher's mitt, or rather this was a long pop out?

As I think about it...I don't know....Hummm....bottom of 7th? What happened? How do I find this out? Hummm

Where's the ball?
Canon Image Challenge23-May-2018 01:19
I don't know about that, Paul....I went out of my way to frame the essential action, pitcher v. batter, together, not in isolation, (though I thought about it), and it is all there, contained within the four walls of this picture.

So love your guy, but this is still pretty good.

He is pretty good.
He also gets some pretty good position.

Wellllll you see, don't take it personal because it's not, the problem with your entry is it's all about comparisons. Compared to what you ask..... I have a friend who is a pro sports photojournalist for the Kansas City Star and he covers the Kc Royals and plenty other sports so I constantly see jaw dropping images from him. "How did John Sleezer get that shot" is a common comment. He is always in the right place at the right time and right camera settings.
Google him or look him up on Facebook and you'll see what I mean, he is as good as they come. It's like driving a Ferrari sports car then getting behind the wheel of a Yugo.
Hunt me down and shoot me if you like ... _ _ _ ... Paul

Here is a link to just a small sample of Johns work.

There were several other titles I could use....because it was an enormous swinging...strike out!

But I wanted something a little more hopeful...as though it was a double off the wall or something.

Was it a hit? or a swing and miss?

He certainly took a rip at it.

They were great seats...it was a cold night...the seats a gift to an friend from a client of a client...no one else as available to go, I was downtown anyway...lol...so they gave me the extra ticket.

I hadn't been to a Dodger game in 20 years....and I was afraid over what size lens they would let me in with; apparently a six inch barrel is the limit, at least at Dodger Stadium, hence the 15~85mm as opposed to the 70~200.

Actually, my seat was considerably better than this...but I left it to go up higher and get a little side angle...but gentlemen, you both neglect to note the defining issue of this image...my talent...;>}}}...the exact moment.

Lastly let me note, people may deride the 77D....but being able to shoot at 1600iso...if necessary, is the real thrill!

Best Wishes, Traveller

Good capture. I agree with Paul - nice seats.
I can't get anything like this at a Twins game unless I cheat and stand behind the last rows of the power deck. Even then 85 mm won't be enough.

At 85 mm not bad seats. Saturday evening I was at the game watching the 2nd worst team in MLB (Kc Royals) They are just awful, anyway since we were at a company sponsored event our seats were not quite as nice. Nose bleed as they are commonly refereed to. Paul
