Dessicated Camel Thorn trees growing in a salt pan amidst the red ferrous sand are part of the evocative scenery that this surreal place is most noted for. The primary colours of clear blue sky and glowing orange sand dunes provide a palette of colour so strong it almost hurts the eyes. There are actually two salt pan vlei at this location and this is by far the least visited hence it's particular appeal to me.
