1958 Lister Jaguar

Miller Motorsports Park, Utah

IMG_1856.jpg

Brian Lister took up racing with Jaguar engines when Jaguar
quit racing with their very successful D Type. This car conformed
to the then current FIA regulation using 3 liter engines.
At this time the FIA mandated that the widshield be a specific
height above the cowl. Brian Lister was very aware that large
frontal area reduces top speed as the car has to push a bigger
hole in the air. He got around this by lowering the cowl height by
lowering the cowl and making the engine cover a seperate part
and not affecting the cowl height.
Archie Scott Brown one of the drivers of this car at the 1958 Serbring
12 hoours was an amazing person. He was born with several physical
deformities that would have prevented most people from choosing
racing as an occupation. This car did not finish the '58 Sebring as it
was involved in an accident not of either drivers of this cars fault.
Unfortunately Archie Scott Brown died in a racing crash later in 1958.
