savanna landscape

best viewed at original size

Taken late in the wet season when it is still very moist and the grasses are starting to set seed.
This is one small part of the last great more-or-less intact tropical savanna in the world.
The savanna - grass and trees - stretches from my home town west unbroken for 2,500 km.

A vast savanna - stretching further than the west coast Canadian border to Mexico! What a blessing for the earth that 1. it's more-or-less intact, and 2. there was a good wet season.
