Today I have a product review that is pretty good. I had sent in my Ruger Blackhawk for a free safety upgrade. My pistol was built in 1969. There have been several design changes and the purpose of the upgrade was to incorporate them in my pistol. This morning Ruger Customer Service called and said they had a technical problem with my pistol. There was excess headspace and the cylinder needed to be replaced. Unfortunately that cylinder has been out of production for a long time and none were available so the pistol couldn't be repaired. That made me a little worried because I had visions of dollars fleeing my wallet to recover from this situation. Well, that couldn't have been farther from the truth. They wanted to know if I would be willing to accept a brand new gun for free to replace my old one. I said,"Say that again, I don't think I heard you correctly." They repeated it and sure enough I had heard them correctly. The only choice I had to make was whether I wanted blued steel or stainless steel. I opted for the latter. A brand new pistol is on its way to me. How is that for customer service??? I went and checked the MSRP and it was $799. How cool is that? I own four Ruger pistols. I like them a lot. Guess which brand of semi-automatic rifle I am going to buy in the near future. Also, guess how many people I am going to tell about my excellent experience with Ruger. These guys are good.
