Chicago from Greektown

Chicago, Illinois

I remember this scene well. You are looking east. The vantage point was the 17th floor of the Quality Inn in Greek town. Scanned from a 4 x 5 Fujichrome Velvia 50 transparency. circa 1995. Exposure was 90 seconds at F/32 and in the days of film you needed to use considerable color filtration to correct for reciprocity failure. In other words, the film color balance would shift over long exposures,. Velvia will go green as time exposure increases. The correction is the subractive color is magenta... 30 units in this case. This is how the scene looked IRL

The level of detail, color and overall scene are just astounding. I especially love the the little flares from the street lights and the red streaks from moving car taillights. ~BV~
