This blue jay was buffeted by the harsh winter wind. I watched him flying back and forth from the bush to the birdseed I had spread on the ground. Many larger birds have a hard time getting food from hanging feeders. They wait for seeds dropping to the ground. I have seen picky small birds sorting and discarding unwanted seeds while sitting at the feeder. So they are helping the bigger birds getting their share too.
