Thank you, Michael.

If anyone is interested in reading a brief history of McCulloch and how he established a new city in the desert and moved an 1831 bridge halfway around the world, this one is interesting:http://havasumagazine.com/history_of_lake_havasu_city-htm/

Sincere thanks for telling me the story of the bridge, Cindy.
Most interesting reading and thank you again for your effort and time.

Beautifully shown, Cindy. I still marvel at the amount of work and organization it must have taken to move that bridge to the States, and why the UK would ever allow it to leave. Great setting and a really sharp early morning image.

Thank you, Terry, Pete and Hal.

Hal, Lake Havasu was "born" as the reservoir for Parker Dam (downstream--construction began in 1934). When McCulloch bought the London bridge and transported it to Arizona, he had it built on dry land. The water that you see here, is a canal that was cut through dry land from the lake and then back out to the lake further south (You are looking north). The land on the left where the hotel is, is an island and can only be reached by going over the bridge. It is a pretty big island and houses a lot of homes, travel parks, condo's, a golf course, marinas, restaurants, a few businesses and 3 or 4 hotels. The island is part of the city of Lake havasu. The bridge was finished about 1970 and is starting to show its age as a lot of big delivery trucks use it, but no steps have been taken for another bridge, though there has been talk of it.

Really a lovely photo of the famous old bridge, Cindy.
So nice to see that some far-sighted people rescued it
and went to the trouble and expense of transporting it to its new
and very different home.
ls Lake Havasu an artificial lake ?
