This White-faced Ibis was one of several that we saw during a visit to Anahuac NWR yesterday that were probing around in the mud around Shoveler Pond. Most of them flew off as soon as our car stopped but this one was a little less timid and allowed for some close-ups. It amazes me that these birds can stick that long beak into the dirt with what seems like minimal effort.
