As a part of their fleet renewal plan, LAM had just bought this 737/300 series, as replacement of their old 100 and 200 series, very old and used.
They also bought B-767, to replace the DC-10. Unfortunately very corrupt and inept administrators almost completely bankrupt the Airline, and they had to return the planes. This less then 1 year after I flew with them...
I had to go to Pemba, old Porto Amelia in the far North. 2 hours flight to Nampula, a stop, and then 1 hour to Pemba airfield.
We were invited in the cockpit and I could film landing in Pemba! It had a very short runway. Very seldom did I see such good Pilots! Dedicates, very careful! In fact, the Captain Bento got an 100% mark from his Boeing qualification exam! A delightfull person. The landing is in my film. Unfortunately, I couldn't take any photos, impossible to do 2 things at the same time!
We flew this same plane a week later, but did a stopover in Nampula for further filming there! I was so sick on the 1st leg....
