The coolest wildlife sighting on our trip was a javelina at the rim, mainly because we had never seen one before. We also saw elk at the rim and a herd of bighorn sheep just below the rim on the Bright Angel Trail. While hiking the Tonto Trail we saw mule deer a few times and a doe and fawn at Indian Gardens (very cute).
