We were a bit disappointed with the garden this year, the
roses seemed to have been chopped back hard and kept low,
all on one level, quite boring to see... I did take a couple of
photos of the roses bred by Alister Clark and will post them
in the next couple of days.
Alister Clark (1864-1949) was the son of a Scottish
immigrant farmer. He was famous for breeding both roses
and daffodils, as well has his big interest in horse racing.
He released 122 roses between 1912 and his death.
This photo shows the Marquee where we had lunch and the
house where the owners of Carrick Hill lived many years ago.
