forest fire

best viewed at original size

It burnt for a week in early September and sometimes looked nasty and filled my home town with smoke, but so far as I can see since its impact wasn’t so severe.
Wildfire is annually a risk here late in the dry season. But provided they’re not too frequent or extensive, the forest and its wildlife is well-adapted to cope. It is humans who seem to have more trouble coping.

Do you call this a "cold" fire where it just burns out the undergrowth Don?

That looks pretty extensive !! The problem here is that wildfires have been suppressed over a long time changing the natural occurrence. You caught this very nicely in a pano V

Excellent panoramic view of the fire and its long plume of smoke. Good to hear the impact wasn't too severe.

I am glad there wasn't much damage...
