Red Fox (Black Phase)

Unfortunately, we discovered this fox soon after it had been hit on the road.
Normally I would not post a dead animal but I had never seen a black red fox before and wanted to ask my Pbase friends if they see them where they live.
I knew that they come in different colors but it was shocking to see for the first time. So sad that it had to be this way.

I didn’t know that there was a black version of the Red fox. Sad yo see it in this state but well pictured.

There was recently a PBS or National Geo special on Red Foxes. They followed a family in the Canadian Maritimes that was just this color.

Good shot but sad Ann. I've never seen a black one here nor ever heard of one for our area./
