Breaking Dawn

Monument Valley, AZ

Related to the songs "A Beginning" and "A Hard Day's Night", and "Here Comes the Sun".

I shot this in HDR, 3 shots, as dawn was breaking. This shows "the Mittens" on the left. I saw a National Geographic training video which had a B&W segment which inspired me to convert this shot.
Converted with NIK.

Forget the song. Awesome shot.
Thanks for waking up early to take it.

No, no long night exposures. I was too tired to stay up. But after a good night's sleep, getting up before dawn was easy.

And yes, the night sky is spectacular, as I saw once on this trip.

Did you by chance do any long exposure night photography, according to dark sky finder that should be a spectacular location for night photography. Paul

Paul - this is up on the boundary of Arizona and Utah in Navajo Land. It is on the reservation and run by the Navajo. It is reasonably remote, but only a one day drive from Green Valley; about 6 hours from Phoenix.
This is shot from my hotel balcony; I was up and starting to shoot at 5:00 am.

Fantastic scene, is this a national park? It looks to be very remote, how do you get there? Paul
