On voit ici la tour "Charlemagne", octogonale, qui est en fait une culée pour les arcs-boutants du chevet côté sud-est.
Une tour similaire se trouve aussi du côté nord-est du chevet.
Cette tour a la particularité de comporter un escalier intérieur allant jusqu'à une petite terrasse à son sommet.
On voit à droite une partie de l'Office de Tourisme.

Partial view of the apse of the Metz Cathedral.
We see here the "Charlemagne" tower. Its shape is octogonal.
It is in fact a support of for the flying buttresses of the south side of the apse.
A similar tower is located at the north-east side of the apse.
This tower has a particularity : an inside stairway allows to access to its top.
On the right of this picture, a partial view of the tourist information center is visible.
