Estonia was part of the Russian Empire from 1710 to 1917, when the Russian Revolution ended its involvement in WWI. Estonia was occupied by the Germans followed by the Russian Red Army. After the Estonian War of Independence (1918–1920), Estonia became a republic for the first time. It lasted until 1939 when Hitler & Stalin signed an non-aggression pack.
