It was the incredible diversity of plant forms within single genera that pulled me into botany when I was about 12 years old. The same thing draws me in still, several decades later. When I realize yet again that 'it's a buckwheat!,' I feel the awe of the Universe coming up to me right out of the ground. It's as simple as that.
