Stained Lophosis Moth - Female and Male Composite

We have seen many new southern moths during our stay in Tennessee this past week.
I thought these two were very interesting. They were both on the moth sheet this morning.
We've had the unfortunate visits of European Hornets to sheet, which made it difficult
to go out and check for new moths regularly. We're also a little disappointed that
no larger moths, specifically the Imperial and Regal moths have not shown themselves.

The sheet is up again tonight, our last night of vacation so there's still hope!

Wow! These are spectacularly beautiful moths! Not something we're likely to get up this way. It must be a whole new experience mothing so much further south. Hoping the larger moths come before you leave! V
