Messier 16 (M16), the Eagle Nebula, is a star-forming nebula with a young open star cluster located in the Sagittarius Arm of the Milky Way Galaxy, the next inner spiral arm from our own.
The nebula is best known for the Pillars of Creation region, three large pillars of gas famously photographed by Hubble in 1995 (and visible in the centre of the nebula in this image).

M16 lies at a distance of 7,000 light years from Earth and has an apparent magnitude of 6.0.

IMHO it looks more like a running headless chicken, but that's just me!

Nikon D7200 (unmodified); Sky-Watcher ED80 Pro Refractor and a Tele Vue 0.8x Reducer/Flattener @ 480mm / f/6; ISO 800; IDAS LPS-P2 Filter; Celestron AVX mount; guided with SSAG; and PHD2; 11 x 3 minute subs (total integration is 33 minutes).

Shot in RAW; converted to 16 bit TIFFs; stacked using DSS; processed in Pixinsight and Photoshop CC.
