northern lights....sort of

The Canadian Mint has this year released a number of coins that glow in the dark...most are collectors items, in other words, expensive metal money that is actually useless down at the fruit and vegetable store...the only one in general circulation is this 2 dollar coin (toonie), celebrating the northern lights (well sort of)..a local shopkeeper was on the lookout for me, and this morning handed over this example...I rushed home, activated the coin under intense light for one minute, then dove into a closet and closed the door so as to be in absolute darkness and witness the marvel...it was underwhelming to say the least (and almost impossible to photograph)...only the green bits glowed, and very faintly at that...this photo was taken subsequently, in natural light

An interesting looking coin and I like your caption. Even if it doesn't work so well, still a nice keepsake.

Well at least someone down at the mint has a sense of humor! I know I'm laughing! V

Interesting looking coin. Try leaving it under the light for a few hours. Maybe that will charge it.

Well, you're a lot closer to the northern lights than we are!
Cool capture of this coin! Glow in the dark, eh?

Well, it's an excellent capture of this showy coin, even if it doesn't really glow in the dark.
